Csányi Pincészet Zrt: Fine wines cannot be made without devotion

The winery was founded in 1881 by the famous viticulturist, Zsigmond Teleki , whose dedicated work of hands led to the rebirth of the vineyards of Europe.

At that time most of the wine makers were busy saving their harvest from blackflies, Zsigmond Teleki chose the different way and invented new grape varieties, disease resistant even to the phylloxera. Since then, the winery has gone through many changes and nowadays it is a massive production plant with its own vineyards- 400 hectares and its own brand, called Teleki.

Csányi Winery has vineyards with outstanding productivity. These areas are real treasures that the company cultivates with the utmost care to the best of the winery`s knowledge. After the general characteristics, Csányi Winery presents each of the vineyards, proud of how a parent introduces their children, telling them which seedling is skillful and talented.

The centre of the winery is located in the heart of Villány. Its impressive, modern building completely fits in the surrounding landscape. The processing plant is equipped with the most modern machinery, while the breathtakingly long cellar labyrinth is a silent shelter for maturing wines and treasures of old vintages. 

Due to the location and location of the Villány Mountains, it is an ideal area for grape production. The wines of the Villány Wine Region are considered to be both of excellent quality and of commercial success by experts and consumers. The southern slopes of the east-west mountain range conjure up a special microclimate here. It belongs to a warm, moderately humid climate zone.

Csányi Winery plantations are stretching over the best vineyards of Villány Wine Region; the most significant vineyards are Kopár, Csillagvölgy, Jammertal, Agancsos, Ördögárok and Hársos. The major grape varieties cultivated in the vineyards are Cabernet-Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, Merlot, Kékfrankos, Olaszrizling, Hárslevelű, and Petit Verdot. 

The longest cellar labyrinth of Villány is located right under the winery building and stretches deep into the ground, and they welcome the guests to take this memorable walk to feel the spirit of the wine process making and history. 

Visiting the winery is impossible without having a look at the equipment, bottling process and storage. 

However, the main attraction of the winery is of course the wine tasting of the best of the collection, with appetizers to enhance the wine flavors. One of  the Csányi Pincészet`s priorities is to make their guests comfortable and memorable, therefore they are planning to open the stylish wine terrace and they will be happy to welcome the guests not just with a glass of wine but a beautiful view and atmosphere as well.
