Daria Kholodilina to present amazing Georgian wines: welcome the new WTA nominee

Georgia

WTA team is glad to welcome our nominee in the Wine & Food Influencer/The Brightest Journey category, Daria Kholodilina, a wine tourism specialist, and a big friend and promoter of amazing Georgian wines, currently living in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Daria is regularly blogging about Georgian winemaking in her social media under the moniker Dariko Mogzauri (which means Dariko the Traveler in Georgian). She was born in Ukraine and moved to Georgia in 2013, because she fell in love with this unbelievable country and its wines.

Daria played an active role in developing the Georgian National Tourism Strategy for 2015-2025, focusing mostly on marketing and promotion. She is also a co-author of, so far, the only existing English language guidebook to Georgia’s wine regions, “Georgia: A Guide to the Cradle of Wine”, published in 2017. This book won the Geoffrey Roberts Award and was highly praised by the reputable international wine media: The Guardian, jancisrobinson.com, World of Fine Wine, and others.

The pandemic of 2020 was a disaster for the tourism business all over the world. In Georgia, it was on hold too, which made Daria move online. She organized dozens of online tastings, and launched a Drink Georgian YouTube channel. This channel offers its subscribers an exciting virtual journey around Georgia, the country, which is proud of its winemaking history, and a brilliant review of Georgian wines. Daria Kholodilina also participated in the Honest Wines project, supported by a variety of Georgian natural wine importers.

Our new nominee has more than 7 years of professional experience in international tourism in Georgia, with a focus on wine and authentic foods. Her English-language Instagram blog about Georgian wine and travel is getting more and more popular every day. Daria is a co-founder of “Trails and Wines”, a tailor-made tours provider and proud holder of the Best Niche Tourism Award 2019 by Georgian National Tourism Award. She was also listed as one of the 50 Most Daring Entrepreneurs of 2018 by the Entrepreneur Magazine Georgia, based on the activities of her Trails and Wines project.

Daria is sure that the Georgian wine field has a lot to offer to international wine lovers. Georgian wine regions are diverse, attractive, have their own peculiarities and need to be discovered by the connoisseurs.

Good luck in your endeavors, Daria! Gaumardjos Sacartvelos! Long live the Georgian wine!
