Cinzia Benzi: New Book and International Award
Spring 2025 has been a particularly remarkable season for Cinzia Benzi, a Wine Travel Awards nominee and winner of the public voting campaigns in both 2022–2023 (Ambassador/Creative Strategy) and 2023–2024 (Ambassador/Ambassador of the Year). The name of the Italian writer, wine critic, and sparkling wine researcher once again resonated on the international stage thanks to several significant events.
In April, Benzi released a new book, Villa Bucci, dedicated to the iconic white wine Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and the estate’s legendary owner, Ampelio Bucci – known as the “King of Verdicchio.” It was Bucci who brought this varietal to the pinnacle of the global wine scene.
This is not just a story about wine – it is an artistic and documentary immersion into the philosophy of winemaking, accompanied by photographs by the Brambilla Serrani studio. The book serves as both a conclusion and a bridge: exactly one year earlier, in the summer of 2024, the historic winery was handed over to the Oniwines group.
Almost simultaneously with the book’s release, Cinzia Benzi was awarded the international prize Scrittore Bollicine del Mondo 2024-2025, presented during the second edition of the Salon Melendo del Champagne in Spain. The award recognizes her contribution to the global promotion of sparkling wines, particularly through the free Bollicine del Mondo app and guidebook series – the third edition of which was also launched this spring.
Cinzia continues her journey through the “world of bubbles,” documenting the styles and philosophies of sparkling wine producers across the globe. Her work is not merely a catalog of wines – it is a nuanced narrative of culture, terroir, and the people behind each bottle.
