A state-of-the-art facility
Zlaten Rozhen winery is located in Kapatovo, a small charming village in Blagoevgrad Province, Bulgaria. The land property compiles approximately 4000 m2. The winery has a modern architectural complex with a fully completed production cycle, starting with grapes and ending at a wine bottle. It is equipped with the most current fermentation facilities with possibilities to optimize and control all processes of vinification, maturing, stabilization and bottling of the wines. The winery offers group- and individual tastings taking place a comfortable tasting room, as well as wine tours for the wine connoisseurs.
Visiting the winery provides you with the opportunity to explore the cellar and the production process with a guide; the wine bar where different wine tastings take place (in English and Bulgarian).
Zlaten Rozhen has its own vine plot of 800 acres with a vine density of 460 vines per acre. The grapes yielded from the vines are processed in the Wine Cellar reaching an output of more than 150 tons annually. The cellar is equipped with the most cutting-edge technology for the production of selected red and white wines, as well as of rose, whose style and finesse result from the strict quality control of each grape batch.
Zlaten Rozhen`s exquisite grape varieties
The following varieties dominate the winery’s vine array structure: Merlot, Cabernet and the particularly last word Syrah variety. The typical regional Melnik 55, Melnik Rubin and the emblematic Broad Melnik Vine for the region since ancient times have not been neglected either. It is also worth to notice the Sandanski Misket – an emblematic variety for the region and Zlaten Rozhen. It is characterized by floral notes and ripe white and tropical fruits. Rose from Sangiovese reflects the innovative thinking of the winery team and their knowledge of terroir.
Cultural Heritage
A limited series of Cabernet Franc 2019 of only 300 bottles has matured in the Rozhen Monastery. The series is called “Cultural Heritage” and draws attention to the preservation of cultural and historical sites. The funds raised from the sale of wines will be used for the conservation and restoration of frescoes of the monastery, some of which date back to the end of the XVI century.
Hit the road to the marvelous Bulgarian region
The Zlaten Rozhen Hotel is a three-star boutique hotel located in the immediate proximity of the Rozhen Monastery, in the centre of the Rozhen village, and 6 km away from Melnik, the smallest town in Bulgaria. The region is known for its mild climate, numerous sunny days, and fresh air that are the main factors and guarantee for the full value of our guests’ recreation.
The hotel offers wide opportunities for relaxation, sports, and entertainment, as well as wine lover / connoisseur / oenophile / sommelier tourism, and wine degustation. It has three floors and is operated all year round. It offers a clever combination of the Bulgarian Renaissance culture, so typical of the region, and the luxury and modern amenities guaranteeing the visitors’ comfort.
At the hotel’s first floor, a unique degustation hall can be found where professional sommeliers and clients can do tastings of wines produced by the estate.
In the tavern located on the second floor and arranged in an old-time life style fashion typical for the Melnik region, with a capacity of 130 seats, Zlaten Rozhen offers delicious specialties of the Bulgarian national cuisine, and a rich assortment of drinks and wines produced from the entity’s own vineyards.
The third floor of the complex includes 12 luxury double rooms and one cozy apartment. The region where the hotel is situated is rich in sightseeing locations that our guests can visit. Near-by are: the Pirin National Park, the Melnik Rock Pyramids natural phenomenon, one of the biggest and most well preserved monasteries in Bulgaria, the Rozhen Monastery. In proximity is also the Ruppitte natural site, together with the “St. Petka, Bulgarian” monument church, as well as the “Samuel Fortress” natural museum park. Both sightseeing locations have been enlisted on the One Hundred National Tourist Sites list.
