Ristorante Madonna della Neve #136
Top destination for local Piedmont gastronomy
The Cirio family has been running this restaurant since 1957, which from a simple country inn has now become an important destination for local gastronomy. The predominant notes, however, remain the simplicity, hospitality and cordiality, which have always distinguished this structure enclosed in the rolling hills of the Langhe Astigiane. The restaurant, located in a panoramic position, dominates the Bormida valley next to the homonymous church of the “Madonna della Neve”, offering the visitor a window with a privileged view of our magnificent land.
The surrounding area offers innumerable and tempting opportunities, which the Cirio family has always known how to seize by cultivating vegetable gardens, orchards and vineyards but also by sourcing from the various local producers of cardoon hunchbacks of Nizza M.to, Tonde gentile IGP hazelnuts, cheeses such as robiola of Roccaverano D.O.P. and the meats, coming from local goat farms as well as from courtyards, such as rabbits and guinea fowl, raised within the Langa Astigiana Val Bormida Community.
Cellar: getting to know the land through its wines
A territory like Piedmont could not but give great products even in the cellar, and Madonna della Neve certainly did not miss the opportunity to give its guests the opportunity to get to know its land through the offer of local wines from both historical and renowned wineries that from small and semi-unknown winegrowers, which however give wines of always undoubted excellence. About 500 labels both from Piedmont and from all over Italy, make a fine show of themselves on the wine list and in the restaurant’s cellar, which contains their soul inside the silent bottles.
Take some rest and immerse into the beauty of the region
The particularity of Ristorante Madonna della Neve is a plin in the napkin, a Northern Italian pasta dish – the specialty that you definitely need to enjoy.
The hotel stands in a quiet and sunny position, immersed in the green hills of the Langa Astigiana, surrounded by woods, hazelnut groves and vineyards. It is an ideal place for those who want to relax in an environment with a warm and familiar atmosphere, to reconcile with themselves and take a little break from the daily routine.
An ideal base for walks and trekking, it is also suitable for those who want to try their hand at excursions by mountain bike or on horseback, taking advantage of the numerous historical and cultural attractions that the area has to offer, or more simply to go and discover the traditional and local food and wine specialities.
The proximity to the spa towns of Acqui and Agliano terme will give you the opportunity to take advantage of the spa services and beauty & wellness treatments offered by highly prestigious specialized centres. Canelli, on the other hand, is known for its cellars and will open its doors to enter the bowels of the hills and visit the famous underground cathedrals, a UNESCO heritage site, places where even today skilled hands produce some of the most renowned Piedmontese sparkling wines. If, on the other hand, you prefer the great Piedmontese red wines, in just an hour’s drive you can reach Alba, and the nearby production areas of Barolo and Barbaresco, two of the most renowned wines of the area.
