Glory to the winner: SHUMI Winery from Kakheti, Georgia, awarded 5 gold medals by MUNDUS VINI

Georgia

Amazing news from SHUMI Winery, one of the winners of Wine Travel Awards 2021-2022! Shumi wines have been granted 5 golden medals by one of the most reputable wine competitions in the world, the 31th Grand International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI Summer Tasting 2022, held in Neustadt, Germany.

This is the list of this year’s award-winning wines:

Salome  2017

Zigu

Napareuli Vinobiza 2020

Saperavi  Vinobiza 2021

Saperavi Cabernet Shumi 2020.

This is, however, not the first triumph of SHUMI Winery at MUNDUS VINI. In 2020 SHUMI was recognized as the best Georgian winemaking company by MUNDUS VINI Grand International Awards. That same year SHUMI Winery also became the winner in 2 nominations of the national tourism award, WELCOME TO GEORGIA, which is considered to be the country’s ‘Oscar’ in hospitality.

The awards are well-deserved: the winery’s unique tourist complex includes Georgia’s first wine museum which displays winemaking artifacts (some of them are over 6 thousand years old), the enographic pavilion, the famous sculpture park created by the Georgian and foreign artists, and much more.

SHUMI winemaking & tourism complex is located in the village of Tsinandali, in one of Georgia’s most well-known wine regions, Kakheti. The company’s own vineyards are grown in a unique micro-terroir, and bio- and biodynamic winegrowing and winemaking methods have been officially introduced here since 2012. SHUMI also boasts the largest private ampelographic collection in the world.
