Prince Trubetskoi Winery. The only historical chateau in Ukraine!
Did Pyotr Nikolaevich Trubetskoi think in that distant 1896, when he listened to the advice of the genius of winemaking Lev Golitsyn and planted vineyards on the southern slopes of the Dnieper, that the results of this work would glorify his name through the centuries? Probably, yes, otherwise he would not have made this chateau his life’s work!
Prince Trubetskoi Winery is a modern winery with a long history and a unique terroir in which the world’s most famous grape varieties grow, some of which are unique to our country. Since the end of the XIX century, with the laying of the first vineyards and the construction of the Chateau by Prince Trubetskoi, the winery has come a long way in winemaking and gained experience. 120 years of experience can be experienced by tasting the wine “Riesling Rhine”, which back in 1900 won the Grand Prix of the Paris Exhibition, and now this wine receives the highest awards in competitions. Vintage wines, developed back in 1949, are still our business card. In 2004, the winery received a new impetus in development, the world’s best grape varieties were planted, and a state-of-the-art winery was built.
There was a lot in the XX century – both ups and downs, and the Soviet period of mass production, and the release of world-famous wines – Pearl of the Steppe, Naddnipriakske, Oksamyt of Ukraine. In our time, the economy has revived, falling into the hands of people in love with their business and wine! Today they have already done a lot: they have built an enotourism complex (with a hotel, a restaurant, a swimming pool), purchased new equipment, containers for vinification and aging, restored old wine cellars and are working on the reconstruction of the Trubetskoy castle, planted new promising and non-traditional varieties for Ukraine (Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, etc.). The legendary vintage wines, which are the only ones in the country in this category of aging, have also been preserved; a bottle sparkling “Blanc de Blanc” has been produced!
Today, the winery combines decades of experience and an innovative approach. In 2021, they began a new stage in the development of our winery. Moving at a fast pace, today they will also not stay away from the rapid development of all Ukrainian and world winemaking. The plans include new premium quality still and sparkling wines.
