The first Deep Sea Aging Wine of Taiwan

Taiwan

We are thrilled to showcase our nominee, Domain Vino Formosa from Taiwan! Domain Vino Formosa is developing unique wine tourism programs centered around Taiwan’s emerging viticulture. One of their most groundbreaking innovations is Taiwan’s first deep-sea-aged wine. Inspired by the discovery of shipwreck-aged wine off the Baltic Sea floor, where bottles lay submerged for nearly 200 years, the concept of Vino Formosa Cuvée Marina was born and later awarded a Gold Medal (92 points) at the Union des Oenologues Vinalies International. With that, Vino Formosa is the first to develop deep-sea aging in Taiwan, refining their process with Vino Formosa Bianco, which matured for five years in oak barrels and seven months on the seafloor of the Taiwan Strait. Take a look at this incredible underwater aging process in their video: The First Deep-Sea Aging Wine of Taiwan.
