KHIKHVI QVEVRI IBERIULI 2022 was described by the jury as «Stunning, rich and spicy, with a complex, nice texture and very long finish». “Sabane” terroir, located in the Kakheti PDO region, is known for its rich winemaking tradition. The wine is fermented on skins in a clay vessel buried in the ground, as has been done here for over 8,000 years. It possess expressive nose: oxidation, cooked pineapple, orange peel, vanilla and caramel. It is bone dry, tense, has characteristic astringency and excellent tannins. It would perfectly suit chicken satay dishes.
SALOME 2017. “Salome” terroir is situated in the historic Didkure area, located in the Napareuli PDO. This land once belonged to the kings of Georgia and Prince Alexander Chavchavadze. It is site of rich historical and cultural significance. The wine shows a unique expression of Saperavi, fruity and heartly nose. It is complex, with crisp red fruit, black olives, blackberry, plum jam, dried figs, raisins and touch of a toast. The evolution is interesting in mouth; there’s vibrancy to the wine, fresh fruits, nutty notes and good minerality, opulent new oak slightly swaps the fruit, but there’s lots of acidity, supple, chalky tannins and a juicy finale with a lively saltiness.
Congratulations to the nominee of Wine Travel Awards – SHUMI Winery and to all Georgian wine lovers on such a significant global success.
