We are excited to celebrate Miguel Leal, whose passion for Portugal’s wine and gastronomic experiences has been recognized year after year at the Wine Travel Awards (WTA). Since the inception of the WTA, Miguel has proudly represented Portugal in the Wine Guide category. His remarkable contributions and exceptional service in the wine tourism sector have earned him multiple accolades from public voting over the years.
This year, Miguel Leal received the highest honor from the WTA international jury panel. Presented by Robert Joseph at the Wine Travel Awards Ceremony in London, held during the esteemed London Wine Fair, this award highlights Miguel’s outstanding contributions to wine tourism. Attending the ceremony and experiencing the London Wine Fair for the first time, Miguel shared that he was impressed by some English sparkling wines and even ordered exceptional bottles for his birthday in October.
As the founder and CEO of ML Private Tours, Miguel offers premium, personalized tours across Portugal’s renowned wine regions, including Porto, the Douro, and Vinho Verde, with services extending into Spain. This year, driven by our collaboration, Miguel expanded his participation by being nominated in two different award categories!

As part of our commitment to building strong professional ties within the wine tourism community, we are establishing an institute of ambassadors. These roles are offered to the most active and influential members of the WTA community, and we are thrilled to announce that Miguel Leal will be part of this exciting project as our official WTA Ambassador for Portugal.
