Madalena Vidigal Launches Pedra da Mãe

Portugal

Portuguese wine expert, wine tourism consultant, and Entre Vinhas founder Madalena Vidigal, a Wine Travel Awards nominee and winner of the public voting in the “Education in Enotourism / Unique Program (2025-2026)” category, has unveiled a new milestone in her family winemaking project with the release of Pedra da Mãe 2021.

The wine marks the first official release from a small family initiative based in the Alentejo region, where Vidigal works with a family-owned vineyard and develops a project closely connected to local terroir and a sustainable approach to viticulture. The name Pedra da Mãe (“Mother’s Stone”) refers to a stone located near the vineyard that has become a symbol of the project and its family heritage.

The project has been in development for over a decade, with initial winemaking experiments dating back to 2013. The commercial release follows years of vineyard work and gradual refinement of the site’s potential.

Pedra da Mãe 2021 is a blend of Sousão, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Franca, offering a fresh, gastronomic style with vibrant acidity and soft tannins. Production remains limited to around 2,000 bottles.

Alongside her winemaking initiative, Madalena Vidigal is known for founding the Entre Vinhas platform and the “5 Minutos de Vinho” podcast, where she promotes wine tourism and educational projects within Portugal’s wine sector.
