Fontanafredda Enters Southeast Asia with Its “Wine of the King” Showcase
The esteemed Italian winery Fontanafredda – a nominee of the Wine Travel Awards in the category The Visiting Card of the Country / Progressive Approach – is making another strong move to expand its global reach. Founded in 1858 by Italy’s first king, Victor Emmanuel II, this historic estate, celebrated for its noble heritage and deep-rooted winemaking tradition, has now entered a new and promising market: Thailand.
In July 2025, Bangkok played host to the official launch of Fontanafredda wines through a cultural and gastronomic event titled “Wine of the King,” organized by Italasia, one of the country’s premier distributors of fine wines. The presentation, held at the elegant Italasia Sathon Showroom, gathered industry professionals, journalists, and wine lovers alike. At the center of attention stood the winery’s flagship Barolo DOCG, often referred to as the “king of wines” for its regal character and longevity.
More than just a tasting, “Wine of the King” offered guests a curated journey into the centuries-old viticultural heritage of Piedmont and the spirit of Fontanafredda itself. Attendees praised the elegance and finesse of the wines, as well as the winery’s dedication to sustainability, craftsmanship, and timeless tradition.
Fontanafredda’s debut in Thailand is part of a broader strategic vision to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia – a region where the appreciation for premium wines continues to grow, particularly among a younger, globally engaged audience.
