The golden bunch of Armenian winemaking
Voskevaz Winery is located in the Aragatsotn region of Armenia in the village of Voskevaz, which in Armenian means “golden bunch”. Voskevaz Winery was established in 1932. With all of the modern innovations, it still has carefully preserved much of its authentic elements, including the castle. The winery is an exceptional place for wine tourism. The renaissance of the winery began in 2004. Voskevaz produces wine using both modern technology and old karases that were made in the 19th century. Karas, a traditional vessel for wine fermentation and aging, was used on the territory of Armenia from ancient times. The earliest karases were found in the remains of the oldest known winery in the world (about 6,100 years old), in the caves of Areni, and at the ancient wine cellar in the Urartian fortress Teishebaini.
From the past to the future
During Soviet times, Voskevaz Winery was producing “Soviet style” sweet and fruit wines. After Armenia got its Independence the Hovhannisyan family purchased the winery in 2004. They began to slowly transform the facility into a modern winery and a unique tourist destination. The owners engaged professional staff and introduced dry wines. The creation of the Karasi Collection which was launched with the 2014 vintage has elevated Voskevaz’s vintage wines to the point where they now have one of the broadest and most successful portfolios of Armenian wines.
The taste and experience of Armenia
Voskevaz Winery does not own any vineyards, but has contracts with the best vine growers in the region, giving them access to some of Armenia’s best and oldest vineyards. All of their wines, without exception, reflect the true nature of Armenia. The wines are produced only from local grape varieties, and rare high-quality Armenian oak barrels are used for the aging of wines. In the production of sweet wines in Armenia Voskevaz Winery has pioneered the use of wine withering technology.
Voskevaz wines were awarded multiple medals at various prestigious local and international wine contests such as Mundus Vini, Catavinum World Wine &; Spirits Competition, Decanter World Wine Awards, Sommelier Wine Awards, USA Wine Ratings etc. Constantly improving and perfecting the quality of its products, almost every year expanding the assortment of wines, Voskevaz invests its contribution to the wine world.
The brand’s collection includes different wines; young and aged, red and white, dry and semi-sweet. In other words, our winery is a perfect place where everyone will find a corner and a glass of wine to chill.
