A Setting of Sicilian Beauty

Villa Cammaratini, located in the southern part of Sicily, lies within the UNESCO-listed baroque city of Modica – known for its ornate churches, noble palaces and its appearance in the fiction “Il Commissario Montalbano”. Thanks to this prestigious setting, guests have immediate access to the cultural and natural highlights of southeastern Sicily. From the villa, it takes only 10 minutes to reach the historic center with its late-baroque architecture, while Noto, Pozzallo, Ragusa and Ragusa Ibla are all within a short 20-minute drive. The region is rich in heritage, covering the celebrated towns of the Val di Noto, as well as important archaeological sites such as Cave d’Ispica. The coastline is equally accessible: the golden sands and crystalline waters of the southeast beaches are only a brief journey away. Although Sicily is often associated with the sea, the property offers a different and deeply authentic dimension of the island – its unspoiled rural landscapes. Surrounded by the peaceful countryside, Villa Cammaratini is immersed in nature, embracing the colors, scents and stillness that define this part of Sicily.

A Home Shaped by History and Nature

Villa Cammaratini, immersed in the heart of the Modican countryside, is surrounded by century-old olive and carob trees, arranged like a mosaic among traditional stone walls. The villa is a luxury abode carefully restored from an early-20th-century farmhouse, preserving the authentic architectural features of Sicilian rural homes. With perimeter walls over one meter thick, the structure naturally maintains warmth in winter and coolness in summer – an embodiment of local building wisdom. The historic estate carries memories of the legendary “Don Saro Aprile”, a healer whose reputation once attracted people from across Sicily seeking remedies, prayers and secret formulas.

Comfort, Space and Timeless Serenity

Villa Cammaratini is an expression of relaxation, luxury, and a true immersion in the colors and scents of the Sicilian countryside. Mornings greet guests with the gentle rustle of olive leaves and evenings fall softly over the peaceful landscape, offering a sense of timeless serenity.

The villa accommodates 13 guests in six elegant double rooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning, and one single room. A large kitchen serves as the heart of the house, where cooking lessons bring Sicilian traditions to life.

Its generous swimming pool, one of the largest in the Ragusa area, measures 9×19 meters with depths from 1.50 to 3.00 meters, offering a perfect space for relaxation. The property is fully accessible, with no architectural barriers, including a pool slide designed for guests with reduced mobility.

Taste, Discover, and Immerse in Sicily

The owner, Mr. Antonio Di Rosa, thanks to his experience in the tourist transport sector and driven by the desire to bring new impulses to the tourism-wellness sector, has created a focused cooking vacation project named Sicilian Gourmet & Experiences.

The project is aimed at couples or single travelers passionate about cooking who want to discover Sicilian culinary art not only as spectators but also as interpreters. It combines the food and wine identity of the region with relaxation in a carefully renovated farmhouse. The program is designed for a maximum of 6 couples and lasts 7 nights, including 4–5 cooking lessons and excursions on alternate days.

Sicilian Gourmet & Experiences provides in-depth, hands-on knowledge of the Sicilian territory through experiential paths: contact with peasant culture, vineyards, cellars, Modica pastry and cheese traditions. A full-time chef guides guests through the process, demonstrating traditional recipes from simple to more elaborate dishes, encouraging involvement and appreciation of high-quality local ingredients.

The three main excursions include:

  1. A company visit to Thalass and to the oldest pastry and chocolate shop Bonajuto, followed by lunch on the farm with a ricotta and cheese production viewing.
  2. A visit and dinner at the winery Cantina Rio Favara.
  3. A guided visit to Syracuse, specifically Ortigia, with lunch in one of the best restaurants in Portopalo offering fresh daily fish, followed by an afternoon visit to Marzamemi.

The program uses two Mercedes 9-seater buses with drivers, and the holiday package includes transfers to and from Catania Airport.
The retreat may also include one or two surprise experiences.
