From Barbera to Moscato
More than a hundred years have passed since Vincenzo Toso, the founder of the winery, heard of Muscat (Moscato) and its sparkling wines, and decided that it was necessary to reach these areas to give a new personality to the company. The Toso cellars passed from a world of hills where Barbera grapes were dominating to another hilly area where Moscato prevailed. Here, they put long-lasting roots.
Toso S.P.A.’s sparkling wines are made of local grape varieties such as Moscato and Barbera, as well as internationally renowned varieties, such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The classic wines are produced from traditional varieties grown in the surrounding hills, including Dolcetto, Branchetta, Freisa, Nebbiolo, and Cortese. The spirits are crafted with a special approach, drawing on the art of distillation and the traditional use of herbs, particularly for producing Vermouths.
Sustainability
For many years, Toso S.P.A. has been committed to reducing the environmental impact of its production processes. The company places great importance on respecting the surrounding landscape, particularly the beautiful hills that provide the setting for the winery, as a fundamental responsibility in transforming valuable agricultural products like grapes.
The winery’s photovoltaic system generates electricity, significantly reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions. A state-of-the-art water purification system ensures complete remediation of sewage and wastewater. Additionally, the biomass heating system utilizes biofuel to produce heat, while recycling systems recover air and hot water from the machinery. These measures mark significant milestones in Toso S.P.A.’s sustainability journey.
Through its ongoing pursuit of eco-friendly practices and energy efficiency, Toso S.P.A. has earned various certifications from recognized control agencies, underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship.
