Schloss Esterházy #83
The largest wine museum in Austria
The largest wine museum in Austria is situated in the 330 year-old cellar vaults of the palace. This impressive exhibition includes more than 700 fascinating objects and gives an overview of the cultural history and rich traditions of viticulture in Burgenland. Among the exhibits are the largest preserved wine barrel and the oldest Baumpresse (a historic type of Austrian basket wine press) in Burgenland. In the over 300-year-old palace cellars you can encounter the long history of the Esterházy’s “bacchanalian” side. With over 700 rare, unusual and sometimes long-forgotten objects relating to wine and viticulture – from historic barrels to Burgenland’s oldest Baumpresse (a type of basket press) – the Wine Museum compellingly presents the history of winemaking under the Esterházy princes.

Music and art, cuisine and wine meet in a unique form
Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Austria and gives an impressive insight into the formerly glamorous life at the court of the princes Esterházy. With the authentic ambience and excellent acoustics of the Haydn Hall, Esterházy Palace is still the centre of cultural events today: concerts are held here, festivals are celebrated and glamorous exhibitions are shown.
An exciting counterpoint is provided by the former stables opposite the castle. Together they form the Schlossquartier Eisenstadt, where contemporary and historical, music and art, cuisine and wine meet in a unique form.
