Kari Brovall is a highly sought-after writer and marketer for wine brands and wineries, known for his behind-the-scenes approach. His passion for wine has guided him toward helping wineries tell their stories and showcase their wines to the fullest potential. As both a writer and a commercial marketer, Kari’s creative insight and keen storytelling have offered every winery he’s worked with a swift, efficient, and uniquely engaging experience. He has led major initiatives to refresh the relevance of wineries, developed distinctive new brands, and crafted the marketing strategies necessary to bring them to life. Today, Kari balances his love for writing with lobster fishing, combining two passions in a life full of creativity and adventure.

He has been operating in the wine industry for nearly 30 years, during that time Kari has worked for first class wineries, brands, people and for first class organizations such as the creative and iconic web agency Item Interactive. He drove commercial strategy and served as a sales spokesman for a range of the worlds most admired wineries and global spirit brands including Fondberg, Miguel Torres, Taittinger Champagne, La Rioja Alta, Lamblin & Fils, Labouré-Roi, Bombay Sapphire Gin, JB Whisky, Jim Beam, Miller Genuine Draft and Stolichnaya Vodka.

The Mind Behind the Impact

Kari has worked for first class wineries, brands, people and for first class organizations. In the early 90´s he was in the house of the legendary Fondberg. The company grew from 32 million SEK to 1.2 billion SEK during his four years with the focus on sales and business development.

He drove commercial strategy and served as a sales spokesman for a range of the worlds most admired wineries and global spirit brands including Miguel Torres, Taittinger Champagne, La Rioja Alta, Labouré-Roi, Bombay Sapphire Gin, JB Whisky, Jim Beam, Dalmore Whisky, Miller Genuine Draft and Stolichnaya Vodka.

Establishment of a new wine company and distribution channel

Kari Brovall was appointed by Miguel Torres in the late 90s to set up the first Miguel Torres wine company in Scandinavia with headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden. Together with colleagues the team succeeded both in sales volumes as in brand repositioning in the market while keeping its identity intact.

In 2021 Kari contributed and participated in the elite e-commerce team in Copenhagen to help establish a new distribution channel which subsequently developed into the fastest growing digital and customer engagement wine platforms in Europe. The entire team participated in the nomination of Entrepreneur Of The Year in 2021 in the start-up/scale up category by Ernst & Young.

This year, he has also been selected as a member of the international expert judging panel for the Wines of Portugal Challenge 2026.

His knowledge of the interplay between content and business, between audiences and creators, of generative AI, multiplatform storytelling and transmedia development has taken him around the world for speaking engagements, workshop facilitation and international consultancy.
