Gruppo Araldica Castelvero #99
The Company
Gruppo Araldica Castelvero stands as one of Italy‘s foremost wine producers, celebrated for cultivating, producing, and distributing the finest wines from the renowned Piedmont region. Araldica produces excellent wines from the most prestigious winegrowing areas of Monferrato, Gavi Langhe, and Roero. Founded in 1954 at Castel Boglione, a small village lying between Asti and Acqui Terme, today Araldica Wines is a cooperative society. The group emphasizes the valorization of its key wine-growing areas – Monferrato, Gavi, Langhe, and Roero – regions steeped in tradition and dedicated to the creation of exceptional wines. With 900 hectares of vineyards, approximately 140 associates, and over 90 employees, Araldica Group manages one of the largest vineyard holdings in Piedmont. Its diverse portfolio is distributed globally across major retail channels and the HoReCa industry.
All vineyards managed by Araldica operate under an integrated defence protocol, adhering to sustainable farming practices that protect the viticultural heritage while minimizing environmental impact. This approach ensures minimal intervention, reduced treatments, and prioritizes the health of consumers and vineyard workers alike.
Terroir and Quality
Founded in 1954 in Castel Boglione, a picturesque village nestled between Asti and Acqui Terme, Araldica specializes in crafting exceptional Piedmont wines sourced from the premier terroirs of Monferrato, Gavi, Langhe, and Roero. The group’s philosophy centers on honoring traditional varietals, selecting the best grape varieties to match microclimates and soil conditions, and maintaining a strong commitment to environmental stewardship. Each wine reflects the unique attributes of its origin, harmonizing artisanal traditions with the scale of a modern cooperative.
Araldica upholds a vision of quality that prioritizes accessibility over exclusivity. For Araldica, an excellent wine is one that everyone can enjoy: never ordinary or substandard, but consistently high-quality, approachable, and versatile for any occasion. These are wines meant for sharing – vivid and full of character, embodying the extraordinary terroirs from which they are born and the dedication of those who bring them to life.
The association
Nowadays Araldica Wines is a cooperative society of 140 associates. The associated winegrowers and their vines are at the centre of Araldica’s activity, since the quality of the end product depends on this fundamental and essential element. It is no simple task to manage almost one thousand hectares of vineyards over four separate hilly areas but the challenge lies in making each associate feel part of a project in which grape quality is the number one priority. Each associate is responsible for his own work but acts in synchrony with the rest of the group, according to rational parameters elaborated by Araldica’s centralized technical service. For more than 30 years, each plot of land has been carefully selected and assessed, parcel by parcel, before being included in a programme which guides the grower, step by step, towards the work and treatments to be carried out in the vineyard: from fertilization to pruning, bunch thinning and harvesting. The harmonization of these phases is carried out in real time based on analyses of the weather condition, the soil climate conditions and the seasonal trend of each winegrowing area. This facilitates timely intervention in the vineyards, assisting the farmers in each phase of the work and valorising their agricultural commitment. The aim is one alone: to obtain excellent grapes that are perfectly ripe and healthy, the best the year’s harvest can offer.
Sustainable Practices and Eco-Friendly Winemaking
The wines from the Il Cascinone, La Battistina, and Santa Seraffa estates, crafted from grapes harvested and fermented separately, proudly bear the SQNPI (Sistema di Qualità Nazionale di Produzione Integrata) certification. This national quality system for integrated crop management is symbolized by the bee logo on their labels, ensuring every phase of wine production adheres to strict sustainability standards. Certified by an independent third-party entity, these wines exemplify eco-compatible practices.
Araldica Castelvero has embraced sustainable viticulture, beginning in 2017 with SQNPI certification across its three group-owned estates: Il Cascinone, La Battistina, and Santa Seraffa. Today, Araldica Castelvero oversees approximately 900 hectares of certified vineyards, driving its commitment to environmentally conscious agriculture forward.
Biodiversity is a vital resource in agriculture, supporting reduced reliance on synthetic chemicals and safeguarding wild pollinators. For Araldica Castelvero, preserving biodiversity is central to its mission. The company prioritizes protecting natural habitats, ensuring ecosystems remain unaltered and thrive.
Soil management practices aim to enhance fertility, prevent erosion, and protect microflora and microfauna. Every action reflects a commitment to stewarding the hills that form the company’s greatest heritage – an enduring gift for future generations.
Araldica Castelvero’s grower-members form the foundation of a chain that begins in the vineyard and culminates in the glass. Their deep connection to the land – recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is reflected in their expertise, respect for diverse soils, and careful selection of grape varieties. By monitoring vineyard ecosystems and optimizing cultivation practices, the cooperative achieves exceptional results that honor its terroir.
Araldica Castelvero’s environmental dedication is symbolized by the SQNPI “bee” logo proudly displayed on its labels. This certification embodies the company’s sustainable journey, encompassing every step of the winemaking process. Through its responsible actions, Araldica Castelvero sets a benchmark for eco-friendly winemaking and demonstrates its unwavering commitment to protecting the environment.
