Gramofon Wine #93
Gramofon Wine: A Fairytale Place Where Stories and Wines Are Born
Gramofon Wine isn’t just another winery – it’s a true “fairytale place.” This isn’t just marketing talk; it’s the genuine essence of a location that not only creates exceptional wines but also weaves unforgettable stories. It’s a place where the magic of “storytelling nights” takes center stage, where wine and life flow in harmony with a timeless rhythm unique to this enchanting vineyard. As is often the case in remarkable histories, Gramofon Wine exists today thanks to a providential meeting of visionaries. Marcel Pascu, a musician who risked his life’s fortune, laid the foundation of the winery—25 hectares of vineyards, a few buildings, and some initial technology. Gabriel Lacureanu, a leading oenologist of his generation, serendipitously joined as an unpaid volunteer. He quickly became the soul behind the wines, shaping every bottle with his expertise. Later, Marcel Vulpoi, the “accountant,” brought the perfect blend of marketing acumen, a passion for celebration, and a Dionysian spirit, completing the Gramofon Wine identity as we know it today. Gramofon Wine introduces itself to the world through its exceptional wines. But to truly understand its essence, there’s only one way: visit. They owners the both confess that the winery’s wines represent them and that they have never put profit before quality, considering that investing in wine is 65% passion and only 35% business. This is also confirmed by the winery’s motto: “Wine, art, gastronomy and music – the guilty pleasures of life”.
Dealu Mare – The Most Renowned Vineyard in Romania
Dealu Mare is Romania’s most representative vineyard, located on the same latitude as the famous vineyards of Bordeaux, France, and Tuscany, Italy. The vineyards of Gramofon Wine are situated near Urlați, in a region rich with historical and Balkan cultural resonance: Bellu Manor – the most beautiful 19th-century estate in Wallachia. It belonged to the renowned art collector Baron Alexandru Bellu, of Aromanian descent, who was also a celebrated artist, photographer, numismatist, and a man of extraordinary culture.
Wine Tourism at Gramofon Wine: A Journey Through Taste and Tradition
The Town of Măgurele – formerly the estate of Michael the Brave (Mihai Viteazul) and later of the Mocea family. Greek Valley – named after the Greek tenants who settled here, drawn by the wealth of the region. This area is also known as The Wine Road, a route that revives the ancient wine trading path once used by Romanians to traverse Europe. Above all, there is a sense that these places are not just a journey through history but also a journey back to LIFE itself.
At Gramofon Wine, the harmony of wine is shared naturally and authentically, extending to its wine tourism offerings. Nestled amidst the vineyard, five charming cottages offer a serene retreat with cozy bedrooms, inviting living spaces, and private terraces. Here, guests can savor the vibrant hues of sunset or the gentle energy of sunrise, accompanied by a glass of wine. Surrounding the winery is a Chardonnay vineyard, a cornerstone of Gramofon Wine’s acclaimed portfolio. Visitors can enjoy walks through the vines, tours of the winery, and curated wine tastings. Beyond the vineyard, the nearby Bellu Mansion, a 19th-century architectural gem, and historical sites like Jercălăi Monastery and Măgurele, the former estate of Mihai Viteazul, add cultural richness to the visit. Adventurous spirits can explore Valea Brazilor or fish at Balta Valea Cucului, while the Wine Road offers a historical journey through an ancient trade route. To immerse fully in the experience, guests can book packages featuring vineyard stays, wine pairings with local delicacies, and evenings around the campfire.
