Domaine Vino Formosa #202
Golden Flavor – Vino Formosa
Vino Formosa Liqueur Wine is the only Taiwanese wine to win 3 Trophies, 12 Gold, and 6 Silver Medals across 10 international wine competitions. Made from Golden Muscat and Black Queen grape varieties, these grapes were first introduced by Taiwan Empire University during the Japanese era and planted in 1942 by local Taichung farmer Mr. Hong Shu Sheng. Grown in well-drained clay and gravel soil, the vineyard provides optimal conditions for grape maturity.
For over 20 years, Dr. Chien Hao Chen from Kaohsiung Hospitality University has refined a unique winemaking technique, earning international recognition and positioning Vino Formosa as a standout in the global wine industry.
Taiwan’s First Deep-Sea-Aged Wine
In 2023, Vino Formosa pioneered Taiwan’s first deep-sea-aged wine with the launch of Cuvée Marina, which won a Gold Medal at the Union des Œnologues Vinalies International. The concept was inspired by a 200-year-old shipwreck discovered at the bottom of the Baltic Sea near Finland’s Åland Islands.
Dr. Chien Hao Chen is the first in Taiwan to explore deep-sea aging. Vino Formosa Bianco undergoes five years of oak barrel aging before spending an additional seven months on the ocean floor of the Taiwan Strait. The result is a unique maturation process that enhances the wine’s complexity and depth, earning Cuvée Marina a prestigious 92-point Gold Medal at the Vinalies International competition.
A Taste of Innovation
Vino Formosa fortified liqueur wine offers a rich bouquet of aromas, including honeyed grapes, citrus, rose, orange, candied fruits, toffee, and raisins, all beautifully balanced on the palate. Its intricate flavors make it an excellent pairing for fruit-based desserts.
