Romanian wine on the world wine map

Deschidem Vinul Românesc is a long-term national program developed by Carrefour România. The goal of the project is to support the Romanian wine industry and put Romania on the international wine map. The program started in 2019; with its help many well-known and small Romanian wineries gained access to retail sales. To date, the program includes 240 wines from more than 70 Romanian wineries. Every year Deschidem Vinul Romanesc expands its portfolio with new varieties and wineries. Some of these wines can be purchased exclusively at Carrefour.

Today, about 200 wines participate in the program, many of which regularly receive awards at the most prestigious international wine competitions: International Wine Contest Bucharest, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, International Wine Challenge and Decanter World Wine Awards.

Tastings on land and in the sky

In 2021 Deschidem Vinul Românesc for the first time organized a tasting of Romanian wines in the famous Times Square. In 2022, the business community and distributors from Italy tasted the best Romanian wines at the Romanian Embassy in Rome. In 2023, Carrefour România and Wizz Air organized a tasting at an altitude of over 2000 meters. Passengers on the Treviso-Bucharest flight had the opportunity to enjoy a glass of red, white or rosé wine from local varieties and discovered the history of Romanian wine with Marinela Ardelean, wine expert and ambassador of the Deschidem Vinul Românesc program.
