Spirit connoisseur: the career path of Jürgen Deibel
Noble spirits of the world have been his passion for more than 40 years. Having started in 1979 with a small enterprise, a professional, independent company for Spirits Consulting for tastings, lectures, training as well as consulting for distribution companies and importers, restaurants and bars as well as the spirits industry.
Today Jürgen Deibel is also a Juror for spirits and cocktail competitions (e.g., ISW and cocktail competitions of various brands). He runs various tastings for private and industrial customers as well as events and incentives. This is just as much part of his work as the DAFS Academy of Fine Spirits, Hannover, founded in 2009, for professional, independent spirits training.
The literary legacy
Among others, Jürgen Deibel is an author, co-author and editor of 40+ liquor books and articles; including “Whisky” by Michael Jackson, the “Great Whisky Book / Whisky Opus” with Gavin Smith and Dominique Roskrow, “Tequila” and “Sherry” in the publishing house Haedecke and many other books as well as magazines (Bar News, Switzerland; Brannt (Meiniger Verlag, Germany).
Achievements and honors
His expertise can be characterized by many years of experience in cooperation and consulting of trade, specialist trade, industry, distributors, producers of spirits, national and international, as well as governments (Poland, Peru).
Jürgen Deibel not only leads through the world of spirits in classroom training or tasting, but also digitally and online.
He is a member and lecturer in many leading spirits organizations worldwide (including RumXP (USA), Vodkamaster (Poland / Russia), Consejo Regulador de Sherry y Brandy de Jerez (Spain, etc.) and guest lecturer for beverage management at national and international academies (e.g., Wine Academy Rust, Austria and AWSEC, Hong Kong, China).
Since 2008 Jürgen Deibel is an official Sherry Educator; in 2010 he was named the world’s first “Cognac BNIC Educator” for his services to the Cognac industry.
In 2013 he was appointed and accepted into the circle of “Keeper of the Quaich” in Scotland for his many years of service and the globally successful Scotch Whisky Tastings, trainings and seminars.
In 2016, Jürgen Deibel was named the first “Aquavit Educator” in Germany for his services to the world of Aquavit.
