Unique Winery in the Heart of Alta Langa

Cavallero winery is located between Cuneo Lange and Asti Lange. Cavallero is one of the few wineries in this region. The vineyards located on steep hills, have become some kind of exception in the local landscape. Meadows are located on one side of the winery, whereas forests and nut groves interacting with the vineyards, are abundant on the other side, which ensures the unique taste of the wines produced.

The Cavallero family has Spanish roots and arrived to Alta Langa yet in 1556. The current owners’ ancestors were engaged in growing mixed crops from cereals to mulberry trees for the production of silk, as well as grapes. But gradually in the 80s of the 20th century, production had completely focused on viticulture and winemaking. The grandfather of the current owners, Giacomo Cavallero, founded the winery. At the current stage, his son Lorenzo and nephew Giacomo, who are in charge of the winery’s management, carry on the family’s tradition. The winery remains a family business, continuing its own history and philosophy of winemaking. Cavallero is not only a winery, it is also a time capsule, where the taste of tradition is embodied in each drop of wine.

Invitation Into the World of Cavallero

In Alta Langa, Cavallero are not only producing wines; they are also creating an exciting journey. During tours of the winery, you will learn, how the Spanish name once received the Italian heart, as well as about the heroic events that left their mark in the vineyards. During World War II, Giacomo Cavallero participated in the anti-fascist partisan movement. Among the vineyards and fields, a secret airfield was created to help the Allies. Paying tribute to the family’s proud history, many of the wine labels feature designs related to these heroic events.

Immersion Into the Gustatory Paradise

Cavallero winery welcomes its visitors, sharing the history and philosophy of winemaking with them. The owners invite you to experience Cavallero’s poetic symphony: the place where history, cultural charm and natural elegance are intertwined in each drop of wine. It should be emphasized that tasting at the winery is the moment when visitors become a little part of the family tradition.

Cavallero is a journey into the world of taste, terroir and history. Each glass is a discovery of new aromas, each sip is an immersion into the uniqueness of Italian winemaking. Each bottle of Cavallero wine is a testament to craftsmanship and loyalty to the traditions passed down from generation to generation.

Dolcetto, with its delicate and expressive notes, reflects the sophistication of Italian winemaking. Moscato, with aromas of flowers and apricots, brings us into the world of fragrant gardens. Barbera, with its inherent energy of freshness, is characterized by expressiveness and harmony. Baratuciat, a pearl among Cavallero’s white wines, cannot be ignored. This is a sparkling wine, which is characterized by an unparalleled ratio of lightness and nobility.

Cavallero winery not only produces wines of exquisite quality, but also carefully and diligently cares for the environment. The commitment to limit intervention in the vineyards and winery is the main principle of production. Manual harvesting of grapes, environment-friendly cleaning of bottles, working in the winery with respect for the nature, lead to the creation of wines preserving and embodying the soul of these hills. Cavallero produces its wines in harmony with nature and culture, which has been revered in these lands for centuries.
